Description
An English lacquered wood chest, raised gesso decoration, England, 18th–19th century. Rectangular body with a domed lid. The surface is finished with a rich lacquer enhanced by raised gesso decoration and ornamental motifs inspired by Oriental taste. The whole rests on its original matching stand.
