Rare and important example of a Genoese “a bambocci” chest of drawers, dating from the late 16th century to the early 17th century. Made of walnut, with walnut veneer on the drawer fronts, it takes its name from the carved anthropomorphic figures forming the complex caryatids and atlantes that frame the front, the sides, and the handles. The chest is fitted with three large drawers and two smaller ones at the top, separated by a coat of arms concealing an additional small drawer, and rests on characteristic lion’s paw feet.
