Description
A George II sterling silver chocolate pot, Sebastian & James Crespell, London, 1774
The body, of elegant proportions and raised on a high stepped circular foot, is of graceful baluster form with rounded shoulders and a tapering neck, terminating in a shaped spout of sinuous profile. The hinged cover is surmounted by a finely chased pinecone finial. The surface is enriched with a delicate ornamental scheme comprising suspended laurel swags between circular rosette medallions. An engraved coat of arms decorates the body, while the handle is made of ebonized wood.

Condition
Slight signs of age and superficial scratches. The four hallmarks are struck to the side of the body. The maker's mark and the lion passant are struck on the cover.
