Description
A pair of Victorian sterling silver sugar bowls and covers, J E Terrey & Co (John Edward Terry), London, 1840
Shaped and elegantly bulbous body with a circular stepped base decorated with fluting. Finely chased acanthus leaf motifs adorning the lower part of the body and the lid. Domed lid richly decorated with foliage. Slender and curved spout with ornamental details featuring scroll and foliage motifs. Silver handle.

Slight signs of age and superficial scratches. The five hallmarks are present on the base of both sugar bowls. On the base of the two lids: maker's mark, passant lion, date letter and duty mark. On the screw: passant lion.
