Description
A Victorian sterling silver two-handled tray, Hunt & Roskell, Late Storr & Mortimer. Kingdom of Sardinia import marks. London, 1853
Of shaped circular form. The border is decorated with shells, scrolling foliage, and twisted ribbon motifs. The centre is engraved with floral and geometric designs. Fitted with handles at either end.
Sterling Silver with 5 Hallmarks:
- The Maker’s Mark: John Samuel Hunt. Hunt & Roskell, Late Storr & Mortimer.
- The Lion Passant: The Mark that indicates Sterling Silver
- Leopard’s Head Crowned: City of London
- The Date Letter: 1853

Condition
Slight signs of age and superficial scratches. The five hallmarks are present on the base of the tray. The two Kingdom of Sardinia hallmarks are struck on the underside of the tray.
