Section of the monumental Latin ecclesiastical history, written in annalistic form as a continuation of the Annales Ecclesiastici by Cardinal Cesare Baronio. The work by Odorico Rinaldi revises and expands the Baronian tradition, organizing the historical narrative of the Catholic Church in strict chronological order. This copy comprises the continuous and complete section covering the years 1198-1534, spanning the pontificate of Innocent III to the beginnings of the Protestant Reformation. The text is in Latin, printed in two columns, with typographical layout typical of major seventeenth century ecclesiastical historiographical works. The volume is bound in contemporary full calf, with a spine on six raised bands, gilt-stamped titles and decorative tooling. It includes the original index annales, a contemporary analytical index of significant philological and historical value.

Hinges at the first board weakened, with losses and fading to both the front and rear covers. Pages slightly browned. Some small scattered stains. Small wormhole at the title page and affecting the years 1198–1212.
