Complete set of the first 31 tomes in 32 volumes (the 7th tome issued in two volumes), plus 4 supplementary tomes on the quadrupeds in 4 volumes. In-16° (6,57 in), with a total of 644 engraved plates hors texte. Contemporary full vellum bindings, with titles lettered on the spines of five volumes and double morocco labels. Minor wear and small losses to two spines. Internally in excellent condition. The first two volumes bound in contemporary publisher’s boards. Some signs of use to the spines. First important Italian edition of Buffon’s monumental Histoire Naturelle, translated and published progressively during the second half of the eighteenth century. Text in Italian, printed on eighteenth-century laid paper, each volume with its own title page.
