First edition of one of Rudyard Kipling’s most important adventure novels, published in 1897 and set among the fishermen of the Grand Banks, off Newfoundland. The story follows the young Harvey Cheyne, who, after falling overboard during a transatlantic voyage, is rescued by the crew of the fishing schooner We’re Here. Life aboard the vessel, marked by hard work, the dangers of the sea, and the discipline of the crew, becomes for the young protagonist a true journey of growth and maturity. The text is illustrated by I. W. Taber.
