Illustrated edition of De rerum natura, of which only 820 copies were printed for subscribers. Copy no. 58, hand-numbered and signed by the publisher on the verso of page 659 of the first volume. The frontispiece and plates were engraved by Jan Wandelaar after drawings by Frans van Mieris the Younger. Cf. Brunet III, 1220; Dibdin II, 202; Ebert 12454; Schweiger II, 576. In original publisher’s boards (temporary binding), 2 volumes, quarto. Pages [136], 659, [1]; [2], 626, [18], 453 columns, with 1 allegorical frontispiece and 6 plates numbered I–VI, engraved in copper and printed separately from the text.

Minor defects. A few small, marginal wormholes to gathering 4K of Volume I. Some gatherings slightly browned.
